Here’s what to expect as a Physical Therapist:

• Assist in developing outcomes, strategies, and data collection methods based on the child’s Evaluation Report (ER) and Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP).
• Ensure the identification, development, and implementation of physical therapy activities to meet the needs of the family and child in accordance with the child’s IFSP.
• Assess on an ongoing basis the functional skills of the child in gross motor skills to include: development of major motor components of pre-ambulation, gait analysis, assessment of balance and equilibrium reactions, and evaluation of the need for adaptive seating, positioning equipment, and orthotic needs.
• Provide families with individual session notes that include the outcome, strategies used, recommendations, and plans for the next session.
• Provide updates and information for quarterly reviews and annual evaluations in accordance with county guidelines to allow for adequate planning when determining the child’s continued eligibility.
• Provide support and feedback to families/caregivers with suggestions and strategies to assist their child in achieving their IFSP goal.
• Fulfill transportation requirements to complete home visits and community-based therapy sessions.
• Develop and implement new policies and/or procedures within the functional area to support the continuous improvement of operational effectiveness and efficiency.
• Maintain current mandated paperwork to include: State license, Child abuse clearance, State Police clearance, FBI clearance, 24 hours of training for Early Intervention, and any pertinent certifications related to your license/expertise.

Minimum requirements as a Physical Therapist:

• Bachelor’s degree within a related discipline expected and 2 to 5 years of learning experience
• Or Master’s degree within a related discipline and 0 to 2 years of learning experience
• PA State licensure in Physical Therapy or eligible for licensure
• Eligible for PA Promise Enrollment 
• Not on CMS Exclusion List
• A valid driver’s license and 6 months of previous driving experience
• Access to vehicle with valid insurance, registration, and inspection
• Ability to communicate, read, write, and interpret English

Preferred, but not required:

• Knowledge of adaptive seating and positioning for children
