Responsibilities

Here’s what to expect as a Maintenance Technician:

  • Perform maintenance tasks and building improvement projects throughout assigned coverage territory on a daily basis; including minor plumbing, minor electrical, wall repairs, hardware replacement, light bulb changes and preventative maintenance, as necessary, depending on the nature of the facility and its needs. 
  • Assess plumbing problems, perform repairs/installations for minor issues, coordinate major repairs.
  • Assess electrical problems, perform repairs/installations for minor issues, coordinate major repairs. 
  • Repair/replace drywall damage including mudding, seam/corner taping and sanding. 
  • Paint areas identified as needing service, whether outdoors or indoors. 
  • Repair, replace, and/or paint stained ceiling tiles. 
  • Repair or install doors, windows, cabinets, and hardware, as needed. 
  • Complete miscellaneous repair and maintenance tasks at UCP's sites and facilities .
  • Move or assist with the moving and delivery of furniture. 
  • Communicate effectively, daily/weekly with Facilities Manager. 
  • Identify, record, and track needed repairs, both minor and major, and make recommendations for repairs to the Facilities Manager. 
  • Maintain an ongoing list of projects, including both the date the work was requested and date completed. 
  • Purchase necessary supplies to complete or facilitate repairs. 
  • Complete purchase orders and maintain records as required. 
  • Establish and maintain a vendor list.
  • Oversee contracted work at assigned sites as requested.

Qualifications

Minimum requirements:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Certificate required. 
  • 6 months to 2 years of previous job-related experience expected.
  • Previous general maintenance and repair experience. 
  • Must have transportation (e.g own personal vehicle) capable of transporting tools and materials to job sites. 
  • Must supply own tools and equipment to complete tasks.  
  • Must be able to ascend and descend a 20 foot ladder.  
  • Must be able to lift 75 pounds.
  • Valid Driver's License and 6 months of previous driving experience.

Preferred, but not required:

  • Associate's Degree or technical certification within a related area preferred. 
  • 2 to 5 years of previous job-related experience preferred.
  • Previous maintenance and skilled trade knowledge and experience.  
  • Previous facilities maintenance experience.
