Responsibilities

Here’s what to expect as an Occupational Therapist (OT) at UCP:

  • Assist in developing outcomes, strategies, and data collection methods based on the child’s Evaluation Report (ER) and Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP).
  • Ensure the identification, development, and implementation of occupational therapy activities to meet the needs of the family and child in accordance with the child’s IFSP.
  • Assess the needs, interest, and abilities of the family and child to determine appropriate ways to assist the family in meeting their functional goals as it relates to occupational therapy.
  • Assess on an ongoing basis the functional skills of the child in the area of fine motor skills, perceptual motor skills, feeding and self-help, and sensory processing abilities as it relates to self-regulation and evaluate the need for hand orthotics or appropriate sensory regulation protocols.
  • Provide families with individual session notes that include the outcome, strategies used, recommendations, and plans for the next session.
  • Provide updates and information for quarterly reviews and annual evaluations in accordance with county guidelines to allow for adequate planning when determining the child’s continued eligibility.
  • Provide support and feedback to families/caregivers with suggestions and strategies to assist their child in achieving their IFSP goal.
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with IFSP team members to meet the needs of the family and child.
  • Fulfill transportation requirements to complete home visits and community-based therapy sessions.
  • Develop and implement new policies and/or procedures within the functional area to support the continuous improvement of operational effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Maintain current mandated paperwork to include: State license, Child abuse clearance, State Police clearance, FBI clearance, 24 hours of training for Early Intervention, and any pertinent certifications related to your license/expertise.

Qualifications

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree within a related discipline expected and 2 to 5 years of learning experience within a related professional discipline preferred
  • Or Master’s degree within a related discipline and 0 to 2 years of learning experience within a related professional discipline preferred
  • Board certification from NBCOT
  • Eligible for PA Promise Enrollment
  • Not on CMS Exclusion List
  • A valid driver’s license and 6 months of previous driving experience
  • Access to regular use of a vehicle with valid insurance coverage
  • Ability to communicate, read, write, and interpret English

Preferred, but not required:

  • One year of prior experience with pediatrics
  • Experience working with children and families with needs in the areas of feeding, hand orthotics, assistive technology, adaptive seating/positioning equipment, and sensory processing
